Structure of CNSA

CNSA is made up of individual members, nursing students who attend member schools, also known as Chapters. Within each chapter, members elect an Official Delegate (OD), who represents the interests of the students at their school and votes on their behalf at regional and national meetings. Members may also elect one or more Associate Delegate (AD), who assists the OD and may vote on the school's behalf in the absence and/or with the permission of the Official Delegate.

CNSA members are categorized into one of five regions, based on their geographical location, and each region has its own Regional Executive. The Regional Executive is made up of all delegates (ODs and ADs) from all the member schools in that region. The Regional Executive can make decisions, set policy that exclusively affects their region, and advise the Board of Directors in other pertinent matters. The regional executive also elects a Regional Director, who sits on both the Regional Executive and the Board of Directors.

Each Regional Director is responsible for the coordination of CNSA/AEIC activities for their region (e.g. conferences, fees, committees, issues etc.), communication between the Board of Directors and chapter delegates, as well as recruiting new member schools.

The Board of Directors (BOD), except the Regional Directors, are elected each year at the National Assembly. Members of the Board of Directors are responsible for conducting the business of CNSA, which includes setting and acting on policy, managing funds, managing and distributing awards, and much more.
