Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing Scholarship For Student Clinical Excellence
Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing Scholarship for
Student Clinical Excellence was established in 2002 to recognize one student
who exemplifies clinical excellence. The scholarship, valued at $2000.00 USD,
will be award to the student who can demonstrate outstanding clinical
excellence, through references and a personal essay.
Terms of Award
- The award is available to
nursing students registered in a nursing school with current membership
in the Canadian Nursing Students' Association
- Selection
will be based on clinical excellence, with attention also to academic
excellence, leadership qualities and extracurricular activities.
- The applicant must submit an official transcript of his or her marks to date with the application.
- The candidate must successfully complete the academic year in which the application is made.

The applicant must provide two letters of reference. One should be from
a clinical instructor who can verify the applicants clinical excellence
and one should be from an either an academic who can verify the
applicants academic excellence, as demonstrated by the official
transcript, or a preceptor/mentor.
- Current members of the CNSA Board of Directors are not eligible for the award in their year of office.

Application form
A completed application shall be considered to
contain:
- Name of person applying
- Current Address, and telephone number of applicant.
- Permanent Address and telephone number of applicant (if different from current)
- Which member school they attend
- A Current Resume. This shall include:
a. a list of activities undertaken by the applicant during their post-secondary education as a member of CNSA. b. all employment and extra-curricular activities, including but not
limited to CNSA, community organizations, and student government. c. the name and description any other previous awards or recognition received.
- An essay, identifying why the applicant espouses clinical
excellence. The essay should describe particular aspects of an
individual that are needed to be proficient clinically. The essay
should then demonstrate the applicant's possession of these skills.
This essay should be no more than 750 words. The recepient's essay may
be published on the CNSA website and in The Connection.
- An official transcript.
- Two letters of reference, as indicated in the terms of the award.
- The following statement signed and dated "I [name] agree to the
terms of the Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honors Society
Scholarship. I further believe all statements in my application to be
truthful. In signing this statement, I also give permission to the CNSA
to publish my essay on the CNSA website and in The Connection."
