The Canadian Federation of Nurses Unions Award for Nursing Student Leadership

The award recognizes a student who
seeks opportunities for leadership and professional development by being involved
as a delegate (official or associate) in the National Assembly. This individual
shall submit a position statement for the consideration of the Awards Committee
on an issue that takes a stance on the core values of the CFNU, which are:
democracy, collectivity, action, social justice, inclusion, and advocacy. The
submission that best reflects these core values shall be selected. The winner
will present the position statement at the National Conference for potential
adoption by the National Assembly.

Terms of the Award
- The
award is available to nursing students registered in a nursing school with
current membership in the Canadian Nursing Students' Association.
- The
applicant must be an Official or Associate Delegate at the time of application
- Current
members of the CNSA Board of Directors are not eligible for the award in their
year of office
Award Application Deadline and
Instructions
Completed
applications and supporting documents for this award must be received by the
VIER by November 10. No applications received after this date or incomplete
applications will be considered.

Evaluation of the Application
The applications shall be evaluated by
the three evaluators based upon the following criteria:
- Complete
description of the issue for which CNSA should take a position (0 to 5 points)
- Is
the position statement evidence based with current research? (0 to 5 points)
- Is
this a current and relevant issue? (0 to 5 points)
- Does
it reflect the core values of the CFNU/CNSA? (0 to 5 points)
- Is
it well written with proper grammar, sentence structure, and spelling (0 to 5
points)
