Director of Membership Development - Alisha D’souza

Hello/Bonjour, my name is Alisha (she/her/elle)! I'm a new graduate nurse working in a highly specialized paediatrics unit and a Master of Nursing student in Leadership for Professional Nursing Practice (MNLPNP) at the University of Western Ontario! I have a passion for working with children and families experiencing major illnesses and disabilities and have worked and volunteered in this area for nearly a decade. My love for leadership, advocacy, and policy regarding child and youth health have been driving forces in my life and I'm excited to exercise them with the CNSA for the 3rd year now in a new role, as the Director of Membership Development! As the previous New Graduate Advocate (2024-2025) and POC Caucus Chair (2023-2024), I am thrilled to be able to continue supporting the phenomenal new board members who have assumed these roles!

This year, I'm excited to lead National Nursing Students Week and engage with nursing students across the country! I also hope to continue the work to rebuild our membership in underrepresented regions or communities in collaboration with the regional directors, directors of psychiatric/practical nursing, and caucus chairs. I also hope to expand our scholarship program, newsletter, and social media through combined efforts with the board, member schools, and our partner organizations. Lastly, I hope to work with many of you to ensure your voices are heard and represented in upcoming revisions of the organization's plans moving forward! In my spare time, I love singing, playing with my cats, volunteering, and napping! Fun fact: My new year's resolution this year was to learn to play the guitar; check in with me at National Conference 2026 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to see how it's going!
